We are seeking an entry-level Environmental Specialist to join our team. Ideal candidates may bring expertise in one or more areas, including natural resources, cultural resources, noise and/or air analyses, waterway permitting, environmental engineering, environmental policy (NEPA), or other related fields within the transportation or energy markets.
Tasks:
- Prepare technical reports for environmental clearance
- Perform field data collection and data processing
- Prepare mapping using ArcGIS
Hours: Part to full‑time availability (20–40 hours per week)
Location:
- Fieldwork: Various sites across Ohio
- Office/administrative work: Remote (in-home office)
Requirements:
- B.S., B.A. or M.S. degree in environmental science, natural resources, environmental engineering, city/regional planning, environmental policy, earth sciences, history, or a related field
- A home office environment conducive to quiet, focused work
- Confidence and self‑motivation to work independently in a remote setting
- Strong technical writing and communication skills
- Ability to work efficiently, manage multiple tasks, and meet tight deadlines while maintaining high-quality deliverables
- Permanent residence in Ohio or a contiguous state
- Willingness and ability to travel for fieldwork (must have reliable transportation)
Additional preferences:
- Experience working on a variety of environmental planning, environmental compliance, or natural resources projects related to transportation, utility, or development sectors
- Environmental experience with State DOT projects and/or within the energy industry
- Proficiency with GIS applications, including data collection and map production
