Serving ODOT District 9, CCS prepared the Level 2 Ecological Survey Report, Regulated Materials Review Screening, Biological Assessment, and Individual 404/401 Waterway Permit Application for this 5-mile major-new highway project on new location in Lawrence County, Ohio.
Highlights
The Biological Assessment for this project reviewed potential impacts to the Northern Long-eared bat, Indiana bat, and Tricolored bat. In addition, the Individual 404/401 Waterway Permit Application reviewed impacts to 40 streams and 18 wetlands.
Serving ODOT District 6, CCS led public involvement efforts for this interchange improvement project at U.S. Route 36/State Route 37 and Interstate 71 in Delaware County, Ohio. The project is proposing to construct a combined interchange and a new 4+ mile roadway that will connect into the city of Sunbury. Public Involvement included multiple stakeholder meetings, an in-person public meeting, two virtual public meetings, a project website, newsletters, and additional outreach.
Highlights
The public outreach effort has garnered over 13,000 views of the project website, to date.
Serving ODOT District 10, CCS completed environmental tasks for this project that will construct an additional two lanes of highway along 14.8 miles of U.S. Route 33 in Meigs County to create a 4-lane divided highway. Environmental tasks included a Qualitative MSAT Analysis, a Level 1 Ecological Survey Report, a Waterway Permit Determination Request, minor public involvement, and a D1-Level Categorical Exclusion environmental document.
Highlights
The Level 1 Ecological Survey Report covered a 488-acre study area and inventoried 41 streams, 23 wetlands, one ditch, and 3 ponds.
Serving ODOT District 6, CCS managed environmental studies and prepared a Categorical Exclusion environmental document for the 8.6-mile lane addition project on SR 161 in Franklin County, Ohio. Within 10 months of authorization, CCS completed a Level 1 Ecological Survey Report, public involvement outreach, a Qualitative MSAT analysis, Section 4(f) coordination, noise public involvement (including an online noise survey), and a waterway permit application (Pre-Construction Notification).
Highlights
This high-priority project will support planned development, including the Intel Chip Manufacturing Facility. CCS worked with the design team to tie down and minimize resource impacts, thereby streamlining agency coordination, waterway permitting, and the Categorical Exclusion environmental document.
Serving the Geauga County Engineer's Office and ODOT District 12, CCS prepared environmental studies for the intersection improvement and bridge replacement along Bundysburg Road in Geauga County, Ohio. The project realigned the roadway to improve the intersection with Township Road 119 and constructed a new bridge over Swine Creek to bypass the existing historic bridge. Environmental studies included a Categorical Exclusion environmental document, a Section 106 NEPA Alternatives Analysis, and public involvement tailored toward the local Amish population.
Highlights
CCS tailored the public involvement approach to involve the local Amish communities. Outreach included the arrangement of a presentation and booth at a local Amish auction and early coordination with community leaders, special interest groups, and local government officials. A public meeting location was selected within walking distance of the project area. Comments and responses were received from all affected residents.
Serving the Village of Spencerville and Choice One Engineering, CCS prepared a Wetland Vegetation Plan for the construction of a 2-acre H2Ohio wetland located in the Village of Spencerville, in Allen County, Ohio. The project is intended to mitigate the impacts of flooding within the Village while improving the quality of runoff waters.
Highlights
Using the proposed design depths, CCS identified five (5) vegetation zones varying from deep marsh to surrounding upland and recommended appropriate seed mixes, plugs, and live stakes to promote native diversity.
